ILCM Incubator Webinars
Access to Care: challenges and opportunities
Aim:
to exchange ideas, experiences and learnings and inspire ways of thinking about the most effective ways to increase access to care for liver cancer patients.
Background:
There are many hurdles/barriers to care for liver cancer patients. These include:
- Awareness among HCPs and patients at ris
- Availability and affordability of treatments
- Stigma and discrimination
This online roundtable debate will explore the challenges above and hopefully generate new ideas of how they could be overcome in different country settings. We hope that the discussion motivates our members and partners, as well as raise awareness of our global initiative, prompting more advocates to join our fight.
Finally, this online encounter will provide insights which we hope to capture via the development of a highlights document.

Advancing awareness and early screening in liver cancer
Aim:
to exchange ideas, experiences and learnings and inspire ways of thinking about the most effective ways to increase awareness of liver cancer, leading to early testing and diagnosis and consecutively better outcomes for patients.
Background:
There are many hurdles/barriers to raising awareness about liver cancer. These include:
- competition with other cancers (e.g., breast cancer)
- no understanding/ lack of awareness of the underlying disease (e.g., liver diseases, PSC, etc.)
- lack of data (e.g., prevalence, incidence, liver cancer pathways and management)
- lack of a strong community of liver cancer patients as many are too ill to advocate (most diagnosis occur at later stages)
This online roundtable debate will generate new ideas of how to overcome these challenges by exploring strategies being used by other health movements (HIV, hepatitis, lung cancer), as well as by giving concrete examples of liver cancer best practices (Taiwan, Europe). We hope that the discussion motivates our members and partners, as well as raise awareness of our global initiative, prompting more advocates to join our fight.
Finally, this online encounter will provide insights which we hope to capture via the development of a document/ position paper.
